Ba-na-na-na-na-na-na-na, ba-na-na-na-na-na-na-na CAF-TAN!
I was inspired today by Poppy's
hairstyle and earrings which made me feel really sixties inspired.
I've wanted to draw a caftan for a long time as well (good practice
for drawing fabric folds as well).
Inspired by Elizabeth Taylor, this and
all caftans are really interesting garments. Every photo I found of
them show long flowing fabrics but a cinched waist, creating an
interesting combination of form fitting and loose, sexy but
comfortable (yes, I just called a caftan sexy).
Art tips: WELL. I drew this on
Saturday, 7/11 (oOoo). I colored it last night. I'm writing this now
on 7/14 in the am. I have probably stared at this individual drawing
for a combined four hours or so at this point. And I just (just!)
noticed that I fucked up the waist . . . I don't even know at what
stage I could have messed it up at since it appears that an entire
line was not drawn where it was needed. Hopefully it is not that
noticeable (though it is all I can see now, of course).
Edit: The spell-check program on blogger is telling me that while the first Ba-na-na is spelled correctly, the second "ba" (just the ba!) is spelled wrong. This makes me laugh- spell check, you so crazy.
