Hey, did you know that braids are hard
to draw? I didn't until I started this drawing!
For this redraw I tried three different
things I had never tried before. One is to make a more realistic
looking braid. I think it turned out . . . ok. The second attempt was
also in the beginning drawing stage where I tried this pose here. On
my first draft her neck appeared to attach to her body somewhere
around her right elbow. Upsetting! I scooted it over more and
basically had to completely draw it over the arms and then erase it
later to see if the pose worked. I turned out . . . ok. I don't think
it's too rubbery.
The final experiment was to see if I
could make her sheer dress thingy look sparkly. I like how it turned
out but I think I will try to push it further in the future.
On the topic of glitter, having worked
with glitter a lot this week while pushing out some custom origami
orders, I now know that this Onion article is real: Cases of Glitter Lung on the Rise Among Elementary School Art Teachers
Therefore, learning how to draw glitter
is probably better for my health in the long run then continuing to
inhale it (no lie, after I glittered like two dozen stars in one
sitting I coughed and hacked for the rest of the day) (my husband has
bought me some paper face masks for the future) (ppe, yeah you know
me).
Art tips: Never let your inner child
out when producing art. She is not very good at understanding
perspective, nor will she clean up after herself.
